Ingredients:
- Fresh Idli Dosa Batter
- Water (as needed for steaming)
Equipment:
- Idli Steamer or any steaming vessel with idli molds
Instructions:
- Prepare the Steamer:
- Fill the bottom of the idli steamer or your steaming vessel with water, ensuring it won’t touch the idli plates when they are placed.
- Grease the Idli Molds:
- Lightly grease the idli molds with a little oil or use non-stick cooking spray to prevent the idlis from sticking.
- Mix the Batter:
- Give the store-bought idli batter a gentle stir to ensure an even consistency. If the batter has been refrigerated, you might want to bring it to room temperature.
- Pour Batter into Molds:
- Fill each mold with idli batter. Do not overfill; leave a little space for the idlis to rise.
- Steam the Idlis:
- Place the idli stand into the steamer or your steaming vessel.
- Steam on medium to high heat for 10-12 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of an idli comes out clean.
- Check for Doneness:
- Carefully remove one idli and check its center with a toothpick. If it comes out clean, the idlis are done.
- Cool and Demold:
- Allow the idlis to cool for a couple of minutes before gently demolding them using a spoon or knife.
- Serve:
- Serve the hot and fluffy idlis with your favorite accompaniments such as coconut chutney, sambar, or a tangy tomato chutney.
